Angela Jennings
CMP: We would
like to welcome Charlotte, North Carolina Model Angela Jennings to the
Carolina Model Project!
Angela: Thank
you! I am so glad to be part of Carolina Model Project!
CMP: I was
reading your resume and see that you have a long list of accomplishments.
How long have you been modeling and how did you get started in the business?
Angela: I got
started doing bikini contests actually, I won at the final local event and
part of winning sent me to the American Dream Calendar girl search in
Nassau, Bahamas. It all kind of started coming together from there. That was
about 6 years ago now.
CMP: How has
your model experience been? What are the ups and downs of being a working
model?
Angela: You meet a lot of great companies
and girls that make it so much fun to be a part of, but the down side is
there are always a few bad people that try to take advantage of girls and
that can be discouraging.
CMP: Have you
had that star moment where someone has recognized you at the grocery store
in sweats for example and wanted your autograph or getting the VIP at clubs
and bars?
Angela: I do
commercials for a couple of local car dealerships in Charlotte, and I was at
shoe carnival, and the guy that rang me up was like….”hey…I know you….you
are that Harrelson commercial chick!” It was too funny!
CMP: What has
been your most embarrassing moment on a model shoot or at an event?
Angela:
Ooooooh….luckily I haven’t had anything to embarrassing…I did fall on my
butt one time, but it was only in front of like two people.
CMP: What do
you think gives you an edge over other models that don't quite make it?
Angela: I
keep a good attitude, girls that don’t make it always seem to be the girls
that you meet on promotional events, and they are walking around like they
are celebrities because they are a “promotional model”. I just want to grab
them and say “get a life”. Girls that always keep a good attitude and
always remember that people want to be around girls that can have fun and
talk to people like they are equal. Girls that think are better than
everyone because they have a pretty face are sadly mistaken.
CMP: I was
talking to a young lady that wants to get in to modeling and I was
explaining to her that great bodies are everywhere but great personalities
are not. What would advice would you give to someone wanting to get in the
business and be successful as you have been?
Angela: That
personality is so much more beautiful than a pretty face. There are a ton of
pretty faces out there, but a very few of them are beautiful on the inside
to match, so the few that are, go far in the business.
Keep a positive
attitude and treat people well, and you WILL go far! People remember people
that make them smile.
CMP: Any
projects that you are involved in that we need to be on the look out for?
Angela: Right
now I am in the Field of Steel Calendar; we have a big event coming up June
8-10. Hope fully I will have some BIG things very soon in my future too!
CMP: Who is
Angela and what is a day in the life of Angela like?
Angela: Actually I am married and have a 1 ½
year old, so it’s not glamorous like you would imagine modeling would be.
But family is a great thing to have…just look at Heidi Klum! I hope that
after that many children, I can still walk a runway! Haha!
CMP: What do your family, friends or co-workers
think of your modeling?
Angela: They all love it! I have a supportive
family; friends and my co-workers love it…they always want to hear stories
when I leave for a modeling job. They Google me online at work.. and show me
when photographers leave positive comments about me in blogs to other
photographers! It’s like a little personal fan club!
CMP: Are you
a workout queen or just blessed with a great body?
Angela: I don’t work out heavy…I run about 3
days a week, and do crunches. But as far as eating goes…ANYTHING goes! I am
from the south so being a good cook is in my blood! I make a mean mac’n
cheese!
CMP: Are
there any rumors or persistent stupid questions that you want to put to rest
for once and for all?
Angela: Not really…. well, actually I did have
to have some fake myspace accounts removed; they had me listed as a porn
star! It was embarrassing when I found out people I went to high school with
were listed on the friends list! I made a myspace for my self to inform all
of them it wasn’t me! I laugh about it now…but I was so upset about it then.
I just stay positive & easy to work with; I find that it is the best way to
keep things positive.
CMP: What
would you see yourself doing in, say, in five years time?
Angela: I
hope to land a big job, like say a magazine, or a large companies ad
campaign that would be nice!
CMP: Do you
have any funny MySpace/Internet stories that you would want to share? I get
a marriage proposal or lets meet on my MySpace page about once a month from
guys! (I’m a guy just incase any one was wondering)
Angela: I get
CRUDE messages from guys sometimes, no marriage proposals yet…but I get
poetry and everything else!
CMP: We would
like to wish you continued success and thanks for letting us get to know you
better.
Angela: Thanks so much for adding me! It’s an
honor to be added to your site!
