CMP: Welcome to the Carolina Model Project. How long have you been modeling?

Ava Cowan: I did a few jobs in Los Angeles quite a few years ago, but I just started again in mid January 2005.  So I am very new.

CMP: When you were growing up what did you want to be?

Ava Cowan: As I was growing up, I wanted to run my own company.  I wanted to save animals.  I wanted to be an Olympic level gymnast.  I felt like I had what it took to do whatever my heart desired. I was always taught that I could be anything that I wanted; the trick for me was finding what that was.

CMP: How did you get involved with modeling? What was your big break?

Ava Cowan: I was just doing a promotion for a friend, and she took some pictures.  I got a good response, and decided to shoot more.  I have been an athlete my whole life, and always wanted to be involved in the fitness industry.  For many years, I couldn't relate to the ultra hard women that dominated the fitness scene.  Today, it seems that American women are demanding a softer more natural look.  I still love the images of a perfect body, don't get me wrong, just a drug free body is what is in demand.  So my time is now.

CMP: What is biggest project that you have been involved with?

Ava Cowan: I am really just beginning.  I have a few projects in discussion, but I will wait until they come to fruition before I get too excited.  My passion is fitness and working out and I am just being introduced into the fitness scene, so we shall wait and see.

CMP: What is a day in your life like? Are you a work out queen or just blessed with a perfect body?

Ava Cowan: I work my butt off.  I do have great genetics, but I work for the body that I have.  It is the culmination of clean living, no drinking or smoking and healthy eating.  I have a good work ethic, and a ton of drive.  So I get up have breakfast, go to the gym, study if I have to...then to bed.  I hang out with a few friends here and there, but I am focused.

CMP: How has fame and the Internet changed your life? Does the guy from 5th Grade ask you "Do you remember me?"

I just have more opportunities to meet men really.  They have access to my e-mail, and I get some interesting propositions.

CMP: What do you say to all the "haters" now that you have made a name for yourself?

Ava Cowan: I don't say too much.  I keep my energy and attention to the people that love and support me.  I have had a few times when people have tried to hurt me or judge me without giving me an opportunity to show who I am and what is in my heart.  I had to learn to redirect my energy and feel compassion for them.  You have to be in a lot of pain and misery to wish bad things for others.  I wish them happiness in their life.

CMP: Do you get tons of free stuff now? Like no waiting in line at the club, free gym memberships, cars and jewelry!

Ava Cowan: Nothing in life is free.  I don't take freebies because there are always strings attached.  That is too high of a price to pay.

CMP: We had a crazy photo shoot where the girl got on location a little tipsy and it was to late to call off the shoot so we went ahead any way. Well, she passed out halfway though the shoot. What is craziest think that has happen to you on a shoot or that you have seen happen?

Ava Cowan: I was shooting on the beach for FloridaBikinis.com and this guy was walking around with his pants around his ankles.  I was laughing too hard to be mad.  I wanted to scream at him, but I just couldn't believe I was the only one seeing this.

CMP: What are your limits with crazy photo shoots? We were shooting in Atlanta, GA on a rooftop (25 stories up and the wind blowing a little) to get the Atlanta skyline a dusk (even tied a rope around her ankle) but she just would not stay up there.

Ava Cowan: I like a little adventure but I guess it really depends on the situation.  I am not a big daredevil...not on a roof top anyway.

CMP: What are on your favorites websites besides yours and ours?

Ava Cowan: I like www.onemodelplace.com, www.walterostarly.com, www.fitnessmodelsmagazine.com and www.msbikiniworld.com

CMP: What would you see yourself doing in, say, ten years time?

Ava Cowan: Continuing to grow, change and learn.  I want to be involved with others as a social worker and want to have a family one-day.

CMP: Is there anything else that you would like to tell to your fans (we are one too!)?

Ava Cowan: First of all thank you.  I am glad that you took the time to ask me to be on your site, and giving me an opportunity to let you into my life a bit.

CMP: Thanks for taking time to talk to us. We wish you the best and if there is anything we can do to help your career or promote you let us know.

Ava Cowan: Thank you so much!
